Primary Curriculum
At Hollinwood Academy we have devised a creative curriculum in order to inspire and engage our young children. From Reception up to Year 6 we have written a curriculum to cover a variety of themes which intertwine curriculum areas, from History and Geography to Science and understanding ourselves.
Our personalised curriculum follows a range of topics which encompass all the curriculum areas in an innovative way to engage our children and maximise their opportunities for learning.
Developing children’s independence is also important and we incorporate skills such as getting dressed, communicating needs, road safety and cooking skills into our curriculum. The children learn the importance of taking care of themselves and how to make healthy choices. They learn different physical and team building skills during their swimming and PE lessons.
The social, moral and cultural development of every child is deeply embedded into our ethos and can be seen in every aspect of school life. Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning (SEAL) plays an important part in the primary curriculum and targets achieved are celebrated and shared in weekly assemblies.
