National School Breakfast Programme
We are delighted to announce that Hollinwood Academy has been accepted onto the National School Breakfast Programme!
The National School Breakfast Programme is funded by the Department for Education and run by Family Action to support schools in England to provide children with a healthy breakfast at the start of the school day.
Family Action is committed to supporting child development, and we believe a healthy school breakfast, without barrier or stigma, can set up children to succeed and give them the very best chance to learn.
The National School Breakfast programme will provide up to two terms of healthy free food delivered to school from September 2021 to March 2022.
Hollinwood Academy will then receive up to four terms of subsidised food, and will be asked to contribute just 25% towards the supply and delivery of breakfast food from April 2022 to July 2023.
The breakfasts that will be provided by the National School Breakfast Programme are bagels and a variety of cereals.
The breakfast programme has already had a massive positive impact on the students. The students are more settled for the day and students are really enjoying the bagels in the mornings.
Hollinwood Academy would also like to thank Tesco Failsworth for donating a range of jams, butter, and cheeses that have allowed a successful launch of the breakfast programme.
Euan from reception class has been a massive help in distributing the bagels and cereals around school.
Thank you Euan!
