Welcome to a cake filled blog! It was lovely to see so many of our parents here at the coffee morning raising money for a great cause. These pictures show how much fun we have had eating all those delicious cakes. We managed to raise a grand total of £416 for Macmillan!
As well as all the fun we have had with coffee morning, I have Mr Corrigan and Miss Sanderson to share with you what their classes have been up to this week. Let’s start with Mr Corrigan..
In Science this week we have been learning about germs. Using glitter, we performed an experiment to find out how they spread and the importance of washing our hands. Next week’s homework challenge will be to record how many times we wash our hands, brush our teeth and have a bath/shower in a week..
For this week’s homework challenge we have been looking at the title and events in our favourite books for our English Book Club..
In Maths this term we are working on numbers to 100 and beyond..
This week we have been counting forwards and backwards in twos..
..then fives..
and tens..
We have been working on dancing and movement in Music, as well as clapping the syllables in our names..
Now for Miss Sanderson’s Humanities classes..
This week in the Humanities department we have been working hard completing our portfolios on ourselves to welcome the new arrivals into our Hollinwood Academy community. The pupils created lovely portfolios that have contributed to a display within the classroom..
In History the Key Stage 4 pupils have been working hard on their essays addressing issues around the Weimar republic and I am pleased to share their fantastic results..
Next week the Geography department will be focusing on ‘space week’ and are hoping to create our own solar systems for each form to return to their classroom and show off their impressive work! The pupils have also produced some lovely pieces of creative writing..
..and thoroughly enjoyed our coffee morning..
