This week saw the Greater Manchester Winter Games where schools from across the region competed in a wide range of sports from boccia, tennis, football and hockey to tag rugby. New Bridge entered the tag rugby event with high hopes as we were last year’s winners and we wanted to remain champions for a second year..
Pupils from Hollinwood Academy helped to make a very strong New Bridge Group rugby team. After 4 very tough matches and some great rugby from everyone..
..New Bridge came out winners again!! We finished in 1st place within Greater Manchester and took home gold medals once more..
The Learning Centre also competed in the rugby U19s event and played some very good rugby..
Our players managed to take home silver medals in the event..
..and they were even interviewed by BBC North West..
All the young people were a credit to the organisation and Mr Smith was very pleased by the way we dealt with some difficult referee decisions – everyone kept their cool and respected the decisions being made. A very big ‘well done!’ to all staff and pupils involved in the day..
