As you know, Sarah is away on holiday today but we thought you might like to see some pictures of our Chinese New Year celebrations before we leave you for the half term break.
Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 have been learning about other cultures and their celebrations, and this week saw them finding out all about the Chinese New Year.
The Chinese New Year started on Monday 8th February and we discovered that 2016 is the Year of the Monkey..
Vincent’s Mum has very kindly been sharing her expert knowledge, and with her help we have enjoyed trying on lots of traditional Chinese costumes..
..as well as sampling some wonderful, traditional Chinese treats..
We also received a lucky red envelope with coins in from Vincent!
Not content with all that excitement though, we went even further and learnt how to do a Chinese Dragon dance..
Mrs Halkyard’s class had fun mastering Chinese cooking..

and tried their hand at some colourful, traditional artwork too..
Don’t forget that our Coffee Morning is coming up on Wednesday 2nd March, we hope you will be able to join us 🙂
Monday 22nd February is a staff training day so pupils aren’t back in school until Tuesday 23rd February. We hope you have a wonderful holiday and we look forward to sharing more of life at Hollinwood Academy with you after the break!
