As part of our commitment to improving our careers education at Hollinwood Academy, we hope to evaluate the success of our programme each year.
Year 10 Careers Programme
In Year 10 the students start developing their enterprise skills and start to think of how they can sell themselves and the ways to apply for jobs. This year is also an opportunity for students to take part in work experience, either in-house or external.
In Spring term 2 the students have a half term of careers lessons and look at enterprise skills in different industry sectors. They investigate different challenges that businesses face, from media to conservation.
During Summer 1 students assess their personal qualities, strengths and weaknesses and then look into how to apply for jobs, creating their own CV and understanding apprenticeships.
National Apprenticeship Week takes place during February, during this week the Year 10 students complete various activities around apprenticeships and opportunities.
All secondary students have also been signed up to the careers portal ‘Start Profile’, where they are able to gain information and advice on education and career choices, access activities to improve their employability skills and have a personal locker to keep a record of their achievements and qualifications. Secondary students have all been given their start profile logins and can access the online learning portal from home. Please encourage them to do so and have a look at the platform for yourself by clicking below:
