Due to the current restrictions, it has been very difficult to organise external work experience. However, that has not deterred us from doing what we can to support our students in getting valuable skills for the work place.

Last week, our students in DHY11 started their in-house work experience. The students have had their own room, phone and email address and have been dealing with internal queries and tasks from staff within school. They have been given various jobs to do including call transfers, printing, sorting documents and laminating amongst other things. The students have shown some fantastic workplace skills by opening and closing phone calls in the correct manner, logging all their calls and tasks, prioritising workload, responding to emails, completing IT support queries and maintenance queries and have had an insight into the life of a receptionist/admin assistant.

We knew that they would do well but they have surpassed our expectations and we are incredibly proud of what they have achieved. Every student has said that they have enjoyed this experience and is looking forward to continuing their work experience throughout this half term. Fantastic job and well done DHY11!
