I have been a governor at Hollinwood Academy for just over a year. I retired in January 2016 having spent nearly 40 years teaching in special schools in Oldham and Salford. My last position was Head of New Bridge Learning Centre.
In the past I have been a parent governor and a staff governor at different schools. My reasons for becoming a governor again are that I felt privileged to work with the young people during my career and I wanted to continue to contribute in supporting pupils in living up to their full potential.
On a more personal note, I am married to a teacher and I have 3 grown up daughters – two are teachers and the other is a nurse.
