By virtue of office I have been a governor at Hollinwood Academy since my appointment as Head of School in December 2019.

I have worked in education for over 13 years and I started my career as a Primary teacher in a mainstream school. Whilst here I was extremely fortunate as I had a wide range of teaching experiences across EYFS to Year 6 and was curriculum lead for Science, ICT and PE.

During the last two years of my time in mainstream, I was the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) and found my passion for working with and supporting students, families and staff around meeting the special educational needs of all the students across the school including a wide range of need. I fully embraced my role and strived for the best education for our students with additional needs so their barriers to learning were reduced and strategies put in place so they could access their classroom environment. This passion pushed me to looking into a career change just before Hollinwood Academy was built as I wanted to do more for students.

I have been fully involved with the development of Hollinwood Academy even before we had the building erected. I joined the New Bridge MAT in April 2015 as we opened the doors to the students in September 2015. I have watched the school grow and develop into the Outstanding provision that it is today and I will continue to support and develop the school, students, families and staff. I am passionate about creating an environment that enables all our students to grow and develop, while embedding innovating practices throughout the school.
